About The Band

REUNION Band is a 7 -piece “Classic Soul & Rock N Roll” ensemble whose roots are traced to a number of rock ’n’ roll bands formed in Kent County, Delaware during the mid-late 60’s and early ’70s.

While some members have performed continuously for over three decades, others played during their high school and college years, then paused to build careers and raise families. In 2007, the passion was reignited by the “Dover All-Stars Reunion Concert” in Rehoboth Beach, bringing together over 30 area musicians to re-create the musical magic of the 60’s and 70’s. The Draw, a new band with built-in history, was created and performed from 2008-2011; its too-brief run ended after the untimely deaths of two founding members. In late 2012, three of the original members recruited additional talented musicians, and REUNION was born.

You can catch REUNION playing all over the state of Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania and always looking for new venues and events! Check out some of their upcoming shows, browse some past events, or request a booking!

Band with Matt Spong known as Colour, singing backup and playing the Congas.  He started playing music while attending Holy Cross Elementary and playing in their Drum and Bugle Corp.  He departed Colour in order to get a job, and buy a car, and didn’t have time to do all the things that he desired without an income.  After H.S. he continued to play music and, during his senior year at Delaware State, he joined-up with Rudy Fenwick, Keyboardist, and his Band to complete their tour in Nova Scotia.  After graduating from Delaware State and moving to Rochester, NY, to work for the Kodak Co., he stopped playing music altogether.  After 20 years at Kodak, and the passing of his Mother (2001), he decided to start playing again. Gary took lessons while in Atlanta, GA, studying Latin Jazz under the guidance of Luis Gonzales, a local Conguero.  Gary returned to Dover in Dec. 2005 and, subsequently, joined the Tad Jones Harbor Town Band as their Drummer. Musical influences:  Santana; Wilson Chembo Corniel; Ray Baretta; Sonny Emory; and Pete Escovedo.

Doug started playing tenor saxophone in junior high school on Long Island.   Through the high school years Doug was a part of various select stage bands, was heard on radio, and was selected as first tenor saxophone in a New York All-State Band under the direction of Ms. Shirley Holman.  His college years were spent playing throughout Long Island and New York City doing studio work and as a member of a cover band performing songs from Billy Joel, Chicago, Santana, and other classic rock artists.  When he attended Georgetown University Medical School, he was the musical director of the annual ‘Follies Cabaret.’

Music took a back seat for several years as Doug became a cardiothoracic surgeon, and then in later life an attorney.  Now, as fully retired and a new resident of Kent County, Doug has returned to the music scene and joins Reunion Band playing tenor and soprano saxophone
